Planets Personified

Bringing Planets To Life Through Sculpture

About the Project

This project will look at personifying the planets in the solar system into alien creatures. research went into each planets colours and textures so it would go into each sculpture. All the planets used in this project have been specifically chosen with different colours and textures to show a variety of skills and techniques.

Textures could be explored as different planets have different textures to them. In this project specifically, many new techniques have been used to create a variety of different looks. Colour theory has also been used for this project as each planet has a different colour palette. Colour has been used to represent different emotions that have been embodied into the looks.

About the Artist Abbey Glancy

Film and television has always been my passion. Ever since I can remember I have always been creative within the media sector. From making my own short films and music videos from a young age, I always knew I wanted to be a part of the film and TV industry. I started off as a media student when I left school and achieved a diploma in creative media studies. But it was when I would do makeup for my classmates' short films is when I redecided my career choice. Being away from school and being able to express myself through makeup and through the makeup I would apply to actors for the short films made me fall in love with makeup and special effects. I realised my skills were more for creating the characters looks for a film rather than making the film myself. So I stayed at college for another year to achieve my diploma qualification for specialist hair and media makeup. I am now currently in my Final year of my Bachelor of Arts degree in specialist hair and media makeup, specialising in on set skills, Sculpture and character creation.
